Portillo's

Buena Park, CA 90620
Who was there:
2 Adults and 2 Kids
What we bought:
2 Plain Hot Dogs (for the kids), Jumbo Chili Dog, Chicken Croissant Sandwich, 2 Large Fries, Onion Rings, Large Chocolate Shake, Large Strawberry Shake
The whole experience was great. We had fun with the kids and had some good food. For this review we ate outside. From previous visits we know it gets noisy inside and its kinda dark. The patio has more light and there were less people so we could film. The first time I went here I thought it was kind of weird that you go all the way to the back to order and get your food near the front. There are neon signs to point your way in case it is your first time. The atmosphere reminds me of Chicago. Outside it's California with all the palm trees but once you step inside it's Chicago. There are Chicago newspapers, films and mobsters framed on the walls. They also play old time music to add to the ambiance of the place.
The plain hot dogs were actually pretty good. I got to try it since the little monkey never finished his food. Did not expect it to be all that good since it was just a plain hot dog lol. The chicken croissant sandwich which is also missing from the video *cough* left a lot to be desired. It was nothing special and I've had better at Jack In The Box. It consisted of a croissant (already kinda mushy from condensation and we ate at the restaurant), lettuce, tomato, mayo and the breaded chicken. Normally I order a hot dog here and I love them but I wanted to try one of the sandwiches since we were going to do a review on it. From now on I'll be ordering hot dogs. A few weeks before I tried one of their hamburgers and it was the same experience. Nothing special and you can get better almost anywhere else. As for the onion rings everybody loved them along with the french fries. The Jumbo Chili Dog was eaten by Hector (his favorite on the menu). He absolutely loves them. Last time he bought 2 and went into a food coma. One of these is enough lol. The chili part looks fresh like they made it in the kitchen. I doubt it was made on site but it looks like it.
In the end this is a great place to go if you're just out on lunch from work or going out with the family. It's also pretty close to Knots Berry Farm if you happen to go there this is a great place to eat.
